Urban Airship has raised $15.1 million in Series C funding. Strategic investors including salesforce.com and Verizon participated in the round, along with existing investors Foundry Group and True Ventures. The investment brings the total raised by Urban Airship to $21.6 million, and follows on the heels of the company’s acquisition of SimpleGeo.
The new capital, combined with the acquisition of SimpleGeo, puts Urban Airship in the position to offer a complete mobile engagement platform – including a scalable infrastructure and range of tools and services. Push notifications, in-app purchasing, subscriptions, context and geo-location will come together on a single platform, enabling developers to build a new class of apps.
