Thumbtack has closed a $12.5 million Series B investment round led by Sequoia Capital. Prior investors Javelin Venture Partners and MHS Capital also contributed to the new investment round. Bryan Schreier from Sequoia will join Thumbtack’s board of directors.
The new financing will be used to expand Thumbtack’s team, says the company.
Thumbtack is an Internet platform that connects consumers to some 250,000 service professionals across local services from photographers and DJs to personal trainers and tutors. Thumbtack currently generates about $300 million a year in new business for local professionals nationwide, says the company.
