Unity To Support Rift

Oculus is partnering with Unity to make Oculus an official platform and build target for the game-development engine. Unity will now fully support Oculus and the Rift, along with a dedicated add-on that includes stereo imaging optimizations, 3D audio support, and other features specifically for virtual reality. Oculus will be now be supported in both the Free and Pro versions of Unity.

Microsoft Buys SyntaxTree

Microsoft has acquired SyntaxTree, developers of the UnityVS plugin for Visual Studio. UnityVS enables Unity developers to use Visual Studio to author, browse and debug the code for their Unity applications. The Redmond giant says it will make the existing UnityVS plugin available for free on its download site. The SyntaxTree team will be joining the Visual Studio division. The Unity cross-platform game engine is used by over two million developers.
