Qloo Raises $3M

Qloo

Recommendation engine Qloo has closed a $3 million seed funding round, with $1.6 million in funding from angel investors Samih Toukan and Hussam Khoury, founders of Maktoob, and Tommy Thompson, founding partner of Cross Creek Pictures. The round also includes earlier investment from Kindler Capital and celebrity investors Danny Masterson and Cedric the Entertainer.

Qloo lets users discover new things and places based upon their personal taste, across eight categories. Available as a free mobile app and as a desktop site, Qloo takes clues from a person’s taste in music, film, TV, dining, nightlife, fashion, books and travel. The company was founded in 2012 by Alex Elias and Jay Alger, and is headquartered in New York City.
