Nvidia has launched the Tegra K1 mobile processor. These processors pack 3x the performance of Apple’s A7 processors, according to the company, and feature a quad-core CPU and a 192-core GPU using the Nvidia Kepler architecture. The processor is also the first mobile processor to support the CUDA parallel computing platform.
The Tegra K1 harnesses ARM’s advanced CPU, Cortex A15, plus a third-generation battery-saver core. This Variable SMP (Symmetric Multi-Processing) architecture enables four performance cores to be used for max burst when needed, with each core independently and automatically enabled and disabled based on workload.
