“An extraordinary 24 hours in Libya. As SACEUR, I will be recommending conclusion of this mission to the North Atlantic Council of NATO in a few hours. A good day for NATO. A great day for the people of Libya,” wrote Admiral James G. Stavridis, United States Navy on his Facebook page. He followed it up with a tweet on Twitter.
Fans of Admiral Stavridis (7,227 in Facebook, 7,337 followers on Twitter) got wind of his intentions, before the Supreme Allied Commander for Europe could officially recommended the end of the strife to his colleagues at NATO. Theoretically, at any rate.
The last time we checked, there were no announcements on the Admiral’s personal blog, nor were there any official statements from the NATO on the subject. There is however a North Atlantic Council statement on Libya which states that the council agrees that the Libyan operations are very close to completion.
Egypt, Libya, expect geopolitics to unfold close at hand on the glossy screens of your computer at home and work. Now if only there were no blood spilled and no war…
