NTT Docomo, one of Japan’s largest mobile carriers, is investing $280 million in augmented reality company Magic Leap.

The funding is part of an exclusive telecommunications partnership between the two companies, combining Docomo’s planned 5G infrastructure and Magic Leap’s spatial computing, Magic Leap said in a statement.

As part of the partnership, Magic Leap and Docomo will also work together to create an immersive media platform, according to the companies.
