KPMG, Microsoft expand global alliance; focus on AI and cloud services

KPMG and Microsoft are extending their global partnership with an increased focus on AI and cloud services. The alliance sees KPMG committing a multi-billion dollar investment (reportedly $2 billion) in Microsoft’s AI and cloud services over the next five years. This investment is projected to potentially increase KPMG’s growth by over $12 billion.

As part of the extended alliance, KPMG will pilot Microsoft 365 Copilot and Azure OpenAI Service technologies across select business groups worldwide. Microsoft’s cloud and Azure OpenAI Service will support KPMG’s global workforce of 265,000. The beneficiaries of these enhancements include over 2,500 joint clients of KPMG and Microsoft.

According to Bill Thomas, global chairman and CEO of KPMG, the alliance will enable KPMG to offer improved advisory services to its clients and make the organization more flexible and resilient.

Satya Nadella, chairman and CEO of Microsoft, stated that the expanded partnership aims to bring together Microsoft’s AI innovation and KPMG’s expertise in tax, audit, and advisory to benefit both employees and customers.

The expanded collaboration builds upon a relationship that spans over a decade.
