Harris delivers weather satellite instrument to South Korea

Harris Corporation has delivered a digital weather satellite instrument to the Korea Aerospace Research Institute.

The Harris-built Advanced Meteorological Imager, or AMI, will be integrated into the GEO-KOMPSAT-2A weather satellite, scheduled to launch in 2018. The AMI is based on the Advanced Baseline Imager built for the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite-16 (GOES-16).

The data coming from the instrument will be used operationally beginning this fall, says Harris.
