Wavii

Google has reportedly acquired Wavii, a Seattle-based startup that is umm, ‘making Facebook out of Google’.

Using big-data machine learning,  Wavii pulls in everything being created across the Web in real-time (e.g., articles, blogs, tweets, pictures), analyzes the content, and builds customized feed items for users.

The transaction is yet to be officially announced, but according to various media reports, the size of the deal is around $30 million.
