Ford and AT&T are working together on to outfit the F-150 Lightning pickup with 5G connectivity, at the motor company’s Dearborn Rouge site.
Plans also include upgrading the production line with new technology capabilities, says Ford. Previously, vehicle software updates had to be made using mobile computing hardware, but now Ford makes these updates wirelessly and the 5G technology will provide a better connection, according to Ford.
Ford recently announced that it is investing an additional $250 million to boost production of the F-150 Lightning at the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center.
