Facebook Builds Artificial Intelligence Research Lab

Facebook has created a new research laboratory with the long-term goal of bringing about major advances in Artificial Intelligence. Yann LeCun, director of the Center For Data Science at New York University, has joined the lab as director. Facebook and the New York University’s Center for Data Science are also entering a partnership to carry out research in data science, machine learning, and AI.

The new AI Group at Facebook will have locations in Menlo Park, CA, in London, UK, and at Facebook’s new facility in New York City. Mr. LeCun will continue to remain a professor at New York University on a part-time basis, maintaining research and teaching activities at NYU.
