EBay Acquires German Company BillSAFE

Techtaffy Newsdesk

EBay has acquired BillSAFE, a provider of purchase-on-invoice technology in Germany. BILLSAFE will be combined with eBay’s PayPal services. The deal follows eBay’s minority stake investment in the company in October last year. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

In Germany, 19.6 per cent of payments in online commerce were billed via invoice, and according to a study, 84.8 percent of German online shoppers have already purchased on invoice, says eBay. Purchase on invoice is the most popular form of payment in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Netherlands, says the company.
