Dwolla Raises $16.5M

Online payment network Dwolla has raised a $16.5 million round led by Andreessen Horowitz. Union Square Ventures, Village Ventures, and Thrive Capital also participated in the round. 

Ben Milne (Founder and CEO, Dwolla): Why Dwolla chose Andreessen Horowitz? They are a little crazy and aren’t afraid. These are the ‘foot slammed on the gas pedal driving a prototype flying tank’ kind of people we have been looking for.

Dwolla is going to double its workforce in Iowa and New York, says the company. Dwolla is also expanding to San Francisco. Dwolla is based and headquartered in Des Moines, Iowa.
