Burberry CEO Joining Apple As Retail Head

Angela Ahrendts, CEO of British luxury brand Burberry, is joining Apple next Spring. She will be working as a senior vice president, in a newly created position, and will also be a member of the company’s executive team.

Ms. Ahrendts will have oversight of the strategic direction, expansion and operation of both Apple retail and online stores, says the company. She will be reporting to Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO.

Angela Ahrendts: I am profoundly honored to join Apple in this newly created position next year, and very much look forward to working with the global teams to further enrich the consumer experience on and offline.

Prior to Burberry, Ms. Ahrendts was executive vice president at Liz Claiborne, and earlier in her career she served as president of Donna Karan.
