Barclays snags BuzzFeed’s principal data scientist to lead data science research

Barclays has appointed Adam Kelleher as director and chief data scientist for Research. In this newly created role, he will be responsible for building a global team of data scientists with expertise in sourcing, normalizing, and utilizing alternative data sets, the company said in a statement.

Dr. Kelleher joins Barclays from BuzzFeed, where he was principal data scientist; responsible for advancing Buzzfeed’s machine learning and alternative data capabilities.

Dr. Kelleher is an adjunct assistant professor at Columbia University’s Data Science Institute. He graduated from Clemson University with a BS in Physics and has a PhD in Cosmology from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
