Sundar Pichai, Google’s senior vice president, Chrome and Apps, is taking over the reins of Android from Andy Rubin. Mr. Pichai will now be responsible for  Android, as well as Chrome and Apps, at Google. Mr. Rubin, senior vice president, Mobile and Digital Content at Google, will be working on other projects within the company.

“While Andy’s a really hard act to follow, I know Sundar will do a tremendous job doubling down on Android as we work to push the ecosystem forward,” said CEO Larry Page in a blog post.

Larry Page (CEO, Google): Having exceeded even the crazy ambitious goals we dreamed of for Android—and with a really strong leadership team in place—Andy’s decided it’s time to hand over the reins and start a new chapter at Google. Andy, more moonshots please!
