10gen Changes Name To MongoDB

10gen is changing its name to MongoDB. “The new name more closely unifies the open-source database project with the company behind it,” said the company in a statement.

10gen Education, which provides free, online training as well as public and private in-person courses, has been rebranded MongoDB University.

MongoDB is an open-source, document database. It provides a JSON data model with dynamic schemas, and driver support, among other things. MongoDB ecosystem partners include Amazon, IBM, Informatica, Intel, Microsoft, MongoHQ, MongoLabs, Rackspace, Red Hat, Softlayer and VMware.
